Good morning!!

It's a Caz here with a scrapping class and a side to scrapping that I find very important :)

I started scrapping in 2003 and not having had all my childhood photos scrapped, it is something that I am doing along with photos of my parents as children and the photos that I take now.

Often there is no story behind an old photograph, it's random.

BUT every now and again you will look at a photograph and memories will flood your mind, and this can often relate to the 'other things' in the photo!

In the photograph on the LO below, I am sitting on the grass, holding my poor dog around the neck with a patio suite in the background. Now I have no idea why this photo was taken, what date it was taken and who it was taken by, but what I do know is........

Memories flood my mind when I look at this photograph. That outside table and chair unit was so uncomfortable, the chairs where a silly angle so when you sat, it was like sitting downhill - backwards! And if you did not have a seat cover on, you got a waffle pattern on your butt, lol!!Tiger, who I am holding around the neck, came to live with us from grandma and grandpa. He was old and not so playful but I loved him and evidently he didn't mind having a cuddle!

At the time we lived in a house with yellow garage doors, a large garden, and a swimming pool. I remember it so clearly even though we left there over 25 years ago.

The second LO is slightly different. I actually went out and took this photo to go with a memory, that I have no photographs for.

Way back in 1986 when we lived in Kloof dad decided to keep chickens! He built them a really cool coop with a sheltered bit at the back for them to sleep and lay eggs in. Occasionally we would let them out to walk about the garden and surprisingly the cats, of which we had 6, never bothered with thm. Maybe one day we can have some again!!

When I found out one of our neighbours had chickens it triggered the memory and I knew it was something I had to document :)

Sometimes when a photograph seems to have no place in any of your albums, take a look at the surroundings and stop focusing on the subject. You may just find some memories tucked away!!

Layout Class

Hi everyone! Cath here with another VERY easy multi photo layout. For this layout i used 5 photographs, the equivalent of 3 x 6x4 pictures. Apologies for the poor photograph, my scanner is not my best friend! Supplies : KI Memories Green color theory paper CherryArte chipboard alphabet American Crafts Alphabet Stickers Sticker studio Alphabet stickers Bazzill Cardstock So like i said, this is amazingly simple. I cut out a smaller piece of coordinating cardstock for the centre and inked both with black. I matted the photographs on black bazzill, this makes them stand out a little bit. The title was then just placed bottom right but you could actually put it anywhere as there is a lot of space. I computer printed the date and place and also some journalling and placed this top right and bottom left. I've left the top left free but you could put some embellies there if you wish. So, a very simple layout for when you have an hour or so spare!

Another recipe - Apple Loaf Cake

Hiya, it's Cath here :) Thought i'd give you a little recipe today. I make this all the time and it never lasts more than 48hrs, very scrummy! And it's really, really quick and easy to make too! Heres the recipe - 1 Egg 8floz(250ml) Bottled or Homemade apple sauce 2 oz(55g) melted butter or Marg 3 3/4oz(110g)Dark brown sugar 1 3/4oz(50g)Caster sugar 10oz(285g)Plain flour 2 tsps Baking powder 1/2 tsp Bicarbonate of soda 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp Ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp Ground Nutmeg 2 1/2oz(70g) currants or raisins 2oz(55g) Chopped pecans or walnuts 1. Preheat the oven to 350f/180c/Gas mark 4. Line a 9x5 in loaf tin wih greaseproof paper and grease. 2. Break the egg into a bowl and beat lightly. Stir in the apple sauce, butter and both sugars. Set aside. 3. In another bowl sift together the flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Fold the dry ingredients into the apple mixture in 3 batches. 4. Stir in the currants/raisins and the nuts. 5. Pour into the prepared tin and bake until a skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean(about an hour). Let stand for 10 mins. Turn out onto a rack and let cool. And if you want to turn recipes and cooking into scrapbooking why not scrap your recipes and turn it inot a Recipe Journal which is what I am planning on doing!

It's Monday.....

....and that means we have a little more Use Your Stash inspiration for you! If you're anything like me you can never throw anything out before seeing if there are bits on it you can use first :) I am most like this when it comes to throwing out clothes, I have to have the buttons off shirts, the lacy bits of bras, pockets off jeans and sometimes I love the pattern of something so much I have to keep the whole thing! But then these 'bits' sit in a drawer taking up space and I never sem to use them! Sound familiar?? I'm sure it does! :D So today I am challenging you to go dig through your stash and find that bit of fabric or lace, or jeans pocket and use it on a LO! Here is mine! A LO of my DHs son in a moody surfer/sk8er boy pose. I used one of his billabong shirts that was destined for the bin!! Chopped it up and stitched it to my cardstock, added some grungy stamping and some metalic rub ons that pick out the blue on the fabric enhancing it! A simple yet effective LO, and very cheep!!

Please excuse the not so great photos of the LO, but it's so windy outside I just couldn't get the LO to stay still enough to get some good photos :)

DIY decorating - Make it personal!!!

I am on a mission… to make my house look personal – full of things that mean something to me. Some of it is hand-made… some of it is reserved for artwork that I hope to buy someday… One part of this project is in my computer room/spare room. The walls were just blank, and I knew I wanted something family oriented in there – something different that I could be free to play with… So I decided to make a film-strip-type border – displaying layouts across all of the walls of my room.
